552 Church Street Condos is a two-component, mixed-use condominium development by ONE Properties, in toronto.
This development is proposed to be a 39-storey and 9-storey tower. It will feature 434 residential rental and condo units, in addition to retail space, augmenting to the already vibrant community.
552 Church Street Condos is proposed to comprise of two components which includes a 9-storey mid-rise along Church, and a 39-storey tower on the west side of the site. The two building components would be slightly separated by a new public laneway that runs north-south in the middle of the site.
552 Church Street Condos is expected to have 434 units, with 65 of those acting as rental replacement units for the heritage apartment building. It will hold two levels of parking which includes 73 residential parking spaces and 26 visitor/retail, for a total of 99 vehicle parking spots. Additionally, it will contain 60 short-term bicycle spaces and 464 long-term spaces for a total of 524 bicycle spots. The project will also feature 1,825 square-metres of retail space, most likely reserved for a bar and/or restaurant.
This project was a hot topic of discussion when it was first submitted to the city as many found it did not fit the Church and Wellesley character. It went through some concessions and has since been revised, it is currently awaiting approval from the city.
As the 552 Church Street Condos will be a redevelopment of the heritage site that already exists here, the 39-storey tower will retain its south, west and some of the east facades. With that in mind, the podium and mid-rise tower will be cladded with traditional brick with large windows, while the high-rise tower will exhibit glass and white concrete, giving the project a contemporary look.
